Research Technician / Molecular Biologist (m/f/d)
Job Description:
Your work will entail principally the performance of standard and advanced techniques in microbiology and molecular biology. Tasks will include preparation of microbial growth media, preparation of Agar plates and production of Antibiotic stock solutions. You may also perform routine molecular biological assays such as PCR, DNA and RNA extractions. You will work under both S1 and S2 safety levels, in which you will be fully trained at the MPI. Your work will also include organization of the laboratory in the form of updating lists for common stocks. Your work will be part of research projects in a fast-paced and diversified work environment.
Qualifications:
Applicants should be (i) highly motivated with a strong work ethic, (ii) a team player, (iii) organized and good at time management, (iv) eager to learn new techniques. At a minimum, applicants should have previous experience with standard techniques of molecular biology (e.g., pipetting, DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, gel electrophoresis) and with common office productivity programs (e.g., Microsoft Office). Experience in microbiology is also required and applicants should be proficient with sterile technique. Fluency in both the German and English languages is advantageous.
Contract:
The full-time position is available on the 01.01.2025, and the duration of the contract will be 6 months. Candidates from outside of the Max Planck Society will be offered an initial contract based on the German TVöD guidelines (TVöD Bund).
